Social Media & Me - May 2017
May 2017’s results for social media were mostly “less impactful on all channels than in previous months, with blogging impressions holding firm, and Instagram, the least targeted social media outlet of mine, continuing to outperform.”
The bullet pointed highlights are
- Twitter impressions missed their target
- Blogger impressions reached their target
- The 2017 Klout target ebbed up to its highest value before plunging below 62 by the end of the month.
- Obtained my 2,000th Instagram follower during the month
The other measure of influence -- how well I provide a platform for advertisers, I see that my life-long Adsense earnings have grown to US$11.31. In other words, I couldn’t get two cents for my blogging thoughts in May 2017.
May 2017 began with 513 followers and ended with 528 followers. At month end I was following 311 accounts. 24 May 2017 tweets generated 16.1 K impressions.

Japanese & Chinese Terminology Tweets
A 5th wave of Japanese & Chinese tweets will begin began towards the end of May.
Between now and the 6th wave I will not seek another string of consecutive days for flashcard tweets. The focus will be on creating a new card, tweeting it, and prepending the tweet to the 6th wave’s list in order to bring about the 6th wave earlier in 2017.
The 6th wave is presently schedule to begin 19 December 2017 and continue through the nearly the end of February 2018.
The tweets of pre-existing materials are scheduled to repeat in 2018, 2019, and 2020. New 2017 material will repeat in 2018-2021.
The size of my Instagram following grew to 2,062 from 1,944. A net gain of 108 followers during May. My feed had least 3 posts every 2 days over the month.

Of importance to me is that I posted April 2017 vocabulary lists for Japanese and Chinese tech, telecom, and finance blogs during May. This means my published word lists have caught up to what should be their publication schedule.
The point of it All
The point of all this social media activity is to raise my professional profile. My 2017 target of a Klout Score of 63+. My score began at 62.78and fell from the start of the month high to 61.33.
This should be correlated month ending kred score was an influence of 686 and a outreach of 6. May 2017 marks the first month where my kred scepter increased while my klout score fell.
2017 KPI Targets
- Monthly 20,001+ Twitter Impressions
- Grow Twitter followers to 600+ while increasing the ratio of Followers-to-Following from 1.611.
- Monthly 2,001+ impressions for the Tech Telecom Marketing & Finance blogger
- Continue the 1 or more Instagram posts/day. Along with the Non-KPI of hitting 2K followers on Instagram during 2017. To reach such a goal around 2 accounts/day would need to follow me.
- Create & post on YouTube 10 East Asian Language learning videos.
- Create & post on YouTube 10 Botanical and/or Art Exhibition videos.
- Create & post on YouTube 10 Telecommunication business themed videos.
- Create & post on Blogger & LinkedIn 10 Tech-Telecom-Marketing-Finance.
- Reach a Klout score of 63 during 2017. A non-KPI is to track my kred score along with the Klout score and what the correlation.
